Dawna Ganson, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Ponoka, AB, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018, at Points West Living in Grande Prairie, at the age of 78 years.

Dawna was born in Chilliwack, BC on June 13, 1939. She moved to Vancouver Island with her family at a young age. Her father was a logger. They lived in houseboats and on small islands. There were some close calls with sinking boats and with nature!

They moved to Terrace, BC where she started her family with Don Ganson. They had four children. She moved to Alberta in her 40’s and worked as a nursing attendant (care aid) for many years and looked after elderly in her home for many years. The last 10 years of her life she spent living in Grande Prairie, AB with her daughter Donette and family.

Dawna was a very devoted Christian lady who loved the Lord her entire life. She loved babies, and spending time with her grandkids.

She loved to cook, she even wrote a cook book! Dawna also enjoyed gardening, entertaining family and friends, canning and preserving fruits and vegetables, and was a spotless housekeeper.

Dawna will be sadly missed by her children: Donette (Clay) Mayhew, Andy (Deborah) Gray, Dane (Kathleen) Ganson, and Donelle (Kevin) Clarke; grandchildren: Samantha (Josh) Inman, Carlin Simpson, Cody, Katlyn, Kiana, Kayden, Alexandrea, Lane, and ZeeZee; step-grandchildren: Terri (Darren), Greg (Melissa), Joe (Kim), Ashley (Joel), and Trevor (Kimberly); great-grandchildren: Graylynn Inman, Brittney, Colby, Mason, Jackson, Bohdi, Piper, Sharlynn, Jaycee, Hudson, Jayden, and Levi.

She was predeceased by her son Dean Ganson, mother Dorothy Betts, and father Gervase Betts.

The family would like to thank the Points West Living Nursing Staff for their excellent care of Mom and for treating her like their own mother.
