Obituary For Dennis Wayne Bancesco
Dennis Wayne Bancesco, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Thursday, October 26, 2023, lovingly surrounded by family, at the age of 86 years.
Dennis was born on July 25, 1937, to Julius and Helen Bancesco in Beaverlodge, AB. He spent his childhood on a farm near Elmworth, AB, with two younger siblings.
He married Grace Elizabeth Koch on August 24, 1963, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this year. They had two children and six grandchildren.
Dennis was ambitious in his professional life. He began his career at Canadian Utilities before becoming a successful businessman and founder of various companies, most notably Mountain Mobile, TLC, and Bancesco Electronics.
He was also a long-time member of the Ham Radio community with the Peace Country Amateur Radio Club. His call sign was VE6ATC. He made many close friends through this club and his business ventures.
Dennis loved being in the water or just out in nature. He spent many summers with the family at the cabin which he built from scratch at Sturgeon Lake.
Being a grandpa and dad came naturally to Dennis. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend. He will be remembered for making every moment brighter, with one of his jokes, stories, or sayings.

Our condolences to Dennis' family. I had the pleasure to meet Dennis in 1988 when I received my ham radio license. He was always a pleasure to talk with, a valuable mentor to all ham radio operators. The Amateur Radio community has lost a valuable friend.

I moved to GP as an 18 year old kid and joined the radio club. Dennis took me under his wing and taught me so many things. He was always so kind, yet firm. We shared a love of radios and a good dark rum. Dennis had a way of teaching me things. I sometimes never realized I was in the middle of a lesson. We went all over the countryside to work on the various repeaters that the radio club had. He was fun too. I remember him running that astro van up the dunes, just to show the 4x4 truck guys what a van could do. Dennis was a mentor to me, and a friend, I am the man I am today from knowing him. He will be missed. --Karel (ex: VE6KLJ) VE3KJX

John and Carol Gilje
John and Carol Gilje send condolences to Grace and family. I got to know Dennis as for many years my husband John and I would pick up Dennis on Saturdays to go to Ham Radio breakfast. On the way most of the talk was about radios but then Dennis would crack a joke and the three of us would have a good laugh. Almost daily when my husband was on the phone I didn't have to ask who he was talking to I knew it was Dennis. They never ran out of things to talk about or have a good laugh. Dennis was always ready to share his wide knowledge of radios or help someone out. Dennis would like to tease me about going to garage sales but I got to tease him when we stopped at the odd one and he would find something to buy. He will be sadly missed.
