We were shocked and saddened to hear of Derekâ??s passing. We so appreciated his cheerfulness and zest for life! He could really tell a colourful story and his laugh was infectious! His love and pride in his family was so evident when Derek spoke of his family! Whether stories of his family in the east and or Emma and the arrival of his sons, family was so important to him! Taken far too soon. RIP Derek. Keeping all his family in our prayers at this sad time. With deepest sympathy, Clarey and Chris Fentie.

Derek and me have had several different conversations about random stuff and we laughed a lot. I will miss the conversations and the good times we had together at Ballad. He brought out the joy and happiness in people and was an inspiration to others including myself. It deeply saddens me that he is gone and I am so sorry for your loss.
