Donald Johnson, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Sexsmith, AB, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 86 years.

Don was born June 22, 1934 to Gunnar and Karen Johnson, on the family farm near La Glace.

He worked 37 years between Marshall Wells and Canfor. He took numerous bus tours, but his favourite trip was to Whitehorse, Yukon. He enjoyed looking after his yard and farm. Don was a mentor with Big Brothers for many years. He cared for his mother until her passing at 101 years of age.

Don’s message to his family and friends was: “Remember the good times”.

He will be sadly missed by his sister Irene Soroka, brother Robert Johnson, sister in-law Ruby Sandboe, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Don was predeceased by his parents; brothers: Merlin Viken, William Johnson, and Stanley Johnson; sisters in-law Elsie Johnson and Irene Viken; brother in-law Ted Soroka; and nephew Larry Viken.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at 2:00pm, at Emerson Trail Cemetery in Sexsmith, AB.
