Obituary For Donald Ross Cameron

Donald Ross Cameron, resident of Grande Prairie, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends, on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Points West Hospice, at the age of 79 years.

Donald was born Sept 22, 1937 in Edmonton to Glen and Anne Cameron. He lived there all through high school, where he met his lovely wife to be, Gudrun. They were married in 1958 and were together for nearly 60 years. Together they moved to various towns around Alberta while he bought grain for the Alberta Wheat Pool. They were blessed with four children: Richard, Darren, Linda and Susan. Eventually, they moved to Victoria where he worked for Buckerfield’s. On their return to Alberta, they eventually settled in Grande Prairie where they would remain for over 20 years.

Donald will be remembered mainly for his love of fishing, bird hunting and dogs. He thoroughly enjoyed gardening, watching the news and debating politics.

He will be missed by his wife Gudrun; children: Richard Cameron (Wanda), Darren Cameron (Colette), Linda Thomas (Rick), and Susan Ostashewski (Nathaniel); as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017, at 11:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie. (10005 107 Ave.).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (103, 9805 97 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8B9).

Dearest Auntie Gudrun, Richard, Linda, Darren and Susan, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle Don. I remember him fondly. Especially, all the laughs around your kitchen table. You know...my mom was always so serious and he just had a way to keep things lighthearted and bring a smile to her face. It makes me feel better to think that maybe they will meet up somewhere in heaven. Sending you lots of love and light. May he rest in peace and may you find strength in the bonds that you have with your loving family. Thinking of you. Wendy Wheeler West Kelowna, BC
