Obituary For Doreen Meredith
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Doreen Elizabeth Meredith on Friday, November 20, 2015, at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 84 years. She passed away peacefully with her daughter Louise at her side.
Doreen was born on January 31, 1931, in Vancouver BC. She became a teacher and moved to Powell River, BC in 1966 where she taught at Cranberry Elementary School for many years.
Doreen was a long time resident of Powell River until January 2015 when she moved to Alberta to be closer to her daughter Louise and her family. She was a resident of Points West Living in Grande Prairie, AB.
Doreen's personality was larger than life, and she had a great sense of humor. She was a great friend to so many people and touched the hearts of those who knew her, including many students that she taught over the years. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends as she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Although we are profoundly saddened, we know that she is at peace and has been reunited with the love of her life Chuck, or as she liked to call him "Charlie Brown".
Doreen is survived by her daughters Louise (Dave) Heatherington of Grande Prairie, AB and Joanne (John) Cummings of Plano, Texas; grandchildren: Brandon and Meredith Cummings, and Kyla and Katie Heatherington; sisters: Margaret Lewis of Vancouver BC, Audrey Zaharoff of New Westminster, BC, Jacquie (Ken) Andersen of Edmonton, AB; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Charles "Chuck" Meredith.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of her Life will take place in Powell River, BC in the spring of 2016.
Love you Forever and Always!

Greeting Louise: I was saddened to hear that your mother had passed away. Doreen was a grand lady. I didn't get to know her much until I too retired from teaching. It was always a pleasure listening to her stories when I accompanied Doreen to an from her appointments with her eye doctor on Vancouver Island. Doreen will be missed at the Powell River retired teachers' luncheons. Bruce Anderson, Powell River
