Obituary For Dorothy June LaForge

Dorothy June LaForge, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 90 years.

She was born in Grande Prairie, on March 11, 1931. She stayed in the Grande Prairie area most of her life and raised her family. With her love of swimming, baseball, curling and many other sports, she involved numerous family members to join her.

In Dorothy’s later years, she enjoyed playing bridge, bingo and other card games. She will be sadly missed for her wisdom, love for her family, and the stellar advice for everyone.

Dorothy will be sadly missed by her children: Dawn, Dave, Charles (Lucille), Irene (Shane) and Andy (Kelly); grandchildren: Jodi, Daelin (Marc), Nathan, Lana (Joel), Bryan, Adam, Amy, Daniel (Glenda), Sydney, Riley (Preston) and Michaela; fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters Carol and Barb; as well as brother Ted.

Dorothy was predeceased by her son Ronald; daughter in-law Cecile; parents Herman and Lottie; sisters: Irene, Joyce and Helen; as well as her brothers: Bill, Bob, Doug and Neil.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 2:00pm, at Oliver's Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave).

Memorial Donations may be made to Grande Prairie Palliative Care Society (#204, 10143 97 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 7X6).

    Had so much fun taking swimming lessons with your Mom. She helped many of us love swimming even though you couldn't see your hand in front of your face, and rub down with mineral oil , to keep the itch off us. None of that mattered, your Mom always encouraged with patience and fun, lots of fun.
