Obituary For Dorothy Wald Elsender

Dorothy Anne Elsender, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Hinton Trail, AB, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Prairie Lake Hospice, 4 days before her 83rd birthday.

Dorothy was born on July 2, 1936 in Last Lake, AB. Dorothy married Tom Elsender on November 14, 1955. They began their life together on a farm in Hinton Trail, AB. They soon were blessed with 3 beautiful girls, Cary, Lonie and Lisa. Tom passed away on August 16, 1970 in a farm accident. Dorothy moved to Grande Prairie, and went to work at AGT. She raised her family on her own. All three girls graduated from St. Joe’s in Grande Prairie.

She enjoyed gardening, working in the yard. Dorothy took great pride in her house and her yard. She also loved playing cards, country music and was a very good dancer.

She is survived by her partner Ignaces Makrocki; children: Cary Callander (Steve), Lisa Appell (David) and Lonie Field (Pat); grandchildren: Lindsay Kelly, Heather Woodland and Shayla Appell; great-granchild: Arabelle Woodland: sisters Audrey Raynor, Helen Fitzpatrick and Sheryll Pound.

She was predeceased by her parents George and Monica Wald; husband: Tom Elsender; and sister: Lonnie Redwood.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at 11:00am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.).

Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke of Alberta (144, 5241 Calgary Trail NW, Edmonton, AB, T6H 5G8).
