Obituary For Douglas Norman Boyer

Douglas Norman Boyer resident of Rycroft, AB, formerly of Estevan, SK, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Spirit River, AB, at the age of 73 years.

Doug was born in Estevan, however, was raised and schooled in Macoun, SK, and spent four years in the army in the early 1970s. He worked in the oilfield in Fort St John, BC, for a few years and for Native Counseling around Alberta in the Lethbridge, Calgary, Grande Prairie, Valleyview, High Level, and Red Deer areas, as well as in Coppermine, NWT.

He spent a lot of time in coffee shops and enjoyed talking to people, it was where he made lots of friends and helped a lot of people. He was very knowledgeable and had the experience to back it up. He gave a lot of himself so others could have a better life. He also spent ten years working for Sask Health in Saskatoon, SK, in the detox and rehab centre; where he also helped a lot of people. Doug retired at 65 due to bad health, or I’m sure he still would be there. He liked to do his leather crafting, he made wallets and things for friends and family. Most of all he enjoyed telling stories of his past work experiences and the people he met along the way. He also wrote a book on the healing circle of life. He will be missed and forever loved.

Doug will be sadly missed by sister Charlotte Boyer; mother Cora Fedyk, Angela Gronvall (Wes), Thomas Neitz (Tracy), Sandi Neitz (David Mitchel), Connie (Patrick) Hochstein, Rod (Sherry) Fedyk, Curtis (Michelle) Fedyk, Toni Fedyk, Sheila Boyer, Dwayn (Lana) Neitz, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Ernest Boyer, infant sister Dorothy., Mary Rose Boyer and Michelle Fedyk, stepfather William “Bill’ Fedyk, stepmother Winnie Boyer, as well as nephew Ken Neitz.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Rycroft Community Hall in Rycroft (5208 47 Ave).

Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation www.heartandstroke.ca/ or the Diabetes Foundation www.diabetes.ca/
