Obituary For Earl Joseph Halladay

Earl Joseph Halladay, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, AB, at the age of 75 years.

People will remember him for his friendly, outgoing personality. Earl was known for the love he had for his wife Yogi (Yollande) of 39 years, which was so strong that he followed her to heaven only 2 weeks after her passing.

His favourite pastimes involved anything that allowed him to spend time outdoors with his family and friends, including hunting, fishing, berry-picking, camping, "treasure" hunting and walking his dogs. His great connection to the outdoors was further shown through his nature paintings and his collection of taxidermy. Earl was proud of his cooking skills and loved to feed a crowd. Earl was a skilled drywall finisher, building a successful business and mentoring incomers to the trade.

He will be sadly missed by his children: Brenda, Lera Myers, Curtis (Tanis) and Troy (Roberta): grandchildren: Montana, Grace, Roland, Paxton, Callum, Owen, Grady and Rheanne; as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Yogi, mother Marguerite Plante, stepfather Phil Plante, brother Don and sister Sharon. A Celebration of Life will be planned for this summer.

Memorial donations may be made to the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre (10507 98 Ave, Grande Prairie, AB T8V 4L1), or an indigenous charity of the donor's choice.

Condolences

  • March 01, 2022

Our heartfelt condolences to the Halladay family and friends. Earl was one of a kind. We enjoyed his company whenever he came by for a visit. Earl had a story for every season. Often funny but sometimes deep. Earl was a stewart of the land and he shared many of his adventures with us. Earl and Yogi were quite the couple and they will be deeply missed. Hugs to all.
