Obituary For Eddie Klein

Eddie passed away peacefully at the Beaverlodge Hospital on November 19, 2015. He was 77 years old.

Eddie was born in Paradise Hill, SK, on July 21, 1938. He was the son of Isadore and Lydia Klein. The Klein family farmed for many years south of Moose Jaw, SK. Eddie spent his younger years in that area, along with his sister Isabelle. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1956 to 1960. While in the Navy he met his wife Elaine in Halifax, NS while on shore leave. They married there in 1960.

With his new bride they moved back to the family farm after his five years with the Navy. While back in Saskatchewan he farmed with his dad for four years. During this time their daughter Debbie was born in 1963. In 1965 they moved to the Beaverlodge area to farm. In 1966 their son Roger was born, and in 1971 they moved to the Halcourt area, buying the “Bill Clark” farm. It was there that Eddie farmed until he retired. In 2001 they moved into Beaverlodge and built their new house.

Eddie was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He spent a couple terms as president. For health reasons he resigned his position.

Eddie loved to be with family and friends at the river, telling jokes and stories. He loved to travel and camp.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years Elaine, daughter Debbie (Darrel), son Roger (Connie), grandson Hunter, sister Isabelle, brother Micheal (Andrea), nephews Brian, Billy, Cory, and niece Joanne and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents Isadore and Lydia Klein, brother in-law Robert Longmore, niece Cindy and nephews Lee and Teddy Longmore.

A Celebration of Life will be June 11, 2016, at 2:00pm, at the Beaverlodge Redwillow Boys and Girls Camp.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Beaverlodge Hospital Foundation (P.O. Box 480 Beaverlodge, AB T0H 0C0) or to the Lung Association of Alberta (P.O. Box 4500 Stn South Edmonton, AB T6E 6K2).
