Obituary For Edgar Wallace Bean
Edgar Wallace “Wally” Bean,
Resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at home surrounded by his family, at the age of 89 years.
Wally was born on April 16, 1931 in Grande Prairie, and spent his entire life in the area. He met Nina Coone in early 1955 and they married later that year. In 1963, Wally and Nina moved to their acreage by Flying Shot Lake where they raised their family. They resided there for 55 years until they moved to Wild Rose Villas.
Wally was a true sports enthusiast with fastball and curling being his favourites. Fall was one of his favourite times of year, as he was able to go duck and goose hunting with anyone that would join him. Gardening was also something Wally enjoyed from the arrival of the catalogue in the mail, to putting the vegetables away in the fall. The only thing that came above his love of gardening was his love for his family.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Nina; children: Brenda Bean, Lois (Derek) Stuckey, Kevin Bean, Lorna (Greg) Sheehan, and Rodney (Nitza) Bean; as well as his 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Wally was predeceased by his parents Bill and Lois Bean; brother Ray Bean; sister in-law Audrey Nagel; and nephews Dale Bean and Ryan Bean.
An invitation-only Funeral Service for Wally will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020, at 1:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave). Interment will follow at the Grande Prairie City Cemetery (84th Ave. & 112 St.). There will be a Livestream available to view from home. The link will be available on the bottom of his obituary page on the Oliver’s website 15-30 minutes prior to the start of the service for any of those who wish to watch.
Memorial donations may be made to the Grande Prairie Salvation Army (9615 102 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2T8).

What a beautiful service for Wally today. I have many good and comforting memories of growing up around Wally & Nina and the kids. I will never forget the good times. I have to agree with Dwight Valin... you never had to fear Wally. He was such a great man. Thank you for sharing the service online as it was otherwise impossible for us to be there. My heart is broken for you all. But, I hope that he is now with Ray and my Dad, Sid... and they are having a great game of fast ball or curling. Love to all
