Obituary For Edna Ruth Stuckless

It is with great sadness that the Stuckless family announces the passing of their beloved Edna Stuckless, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Tumbler Ridge, BC. She passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, August 3, 2024, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 80 years. Edna’s presence brought immeasurable joy to our lives with her kind heart, radiant smile and boundless energy.

Born on November 7, 1943, in Change Islands, NL, Edna was raised there until the age of 18 when she met her husband, Rex. They were married in Point Leamington, NL, in 1961. The couple later moved to Labrador City, NL, where they lived for 20 years, and Edna worked at the local hospital. In the late 1980’s, Edna and Rex moved to Tumbler Ridge, living there on and off until last year. They also resided in Grande Cache, AB, the Northwest Territories, and the Yukon before returning to Tumbler Ridge.

Edna was known for her humor and zest for life; she was always the first to enjoy a good laugh. Her passions included quilting, baking, and tea-time with friends. She was always there for her family and friends to lend a helping hand or just to listen. She was also a dedicated member of the Salvation Army.

Edna will be deeply missed by her husband Rex; children: Curtis (Margaret), Craig (Kelly), and Chad (Elizabeth); grandchildren: Carla, Christa, Jake, Noah, Dillon, Cassie, Emma, Molly, and Gage; great-grandchildren: Aylah and Peter; and siblings Mabel and Duke. She will also be missed by countless number of friends and extended family.

She was predeceased by her parents George and Edith LeDrew and her siblings Maisie, Curt, and Scott.

We invite friends and family to join us for a Memorial service on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Avenue, Grande Prairie, AB).

“Her laughter and love for life and family will remain forever in our hearts”

Dear Rex, Curtis, Craig and Chad and family, we send condolences on the loss of Edna. She will be greatly missed I am sure. I have find memories of our time in Labrador City -- Sunday School and movie line-ups and the many birthday parties shared with our families, and Edna's good food -- especially her egg sandwiches and those coloured marshmallows stuck on Ritz crackers with a blob of peanut butter! Life and distance have been long since those days, but "... friends are friends forever when the Lord's the Lord of them." Prayers for you all. 🙏🙏🙏

Dear Uncle Rex, Curtis, Craig, Chad, and families. We are so sorry for your loss. I remember Aunt Edna as a loving fun person too. I know my dad was very fond of her and told me about how he and his little sister Edna would go out in an open boat together as kids fishing for lobsters. He said she was outdoorsy and tough. I was recently in NL looking at old photos with Mom and I spotted one from the sixties of Aunt Edna with a beehive hairdo and a mini dress looking beautiful. Thanks for posting it Mom. It's been a long time since I've seen you all but if you are ever coming to Calgary you are always welcome here. Janice LeDrew and family

Rex. I was so sorry to hear of Edna's passing. I'm thankful we had the chance to have a little chat just recently. My memories of her are of her cheerful life loving ways. Scott often shared memories of their childhood on Change islands which they enjoyed re-living when they got together. I attempted to upload a photo from his album of you and her when you were young. Not sure if it worked. My love and condolences to you and your boys and all the family. Love Gloria
