Obituary For Elizabeth (Bettina) Alfonso

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Bettina) Alfonso (née Teoli) on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024 in Grande Prairie, AB, exactly 4 months shy of her 100th birthday.

Elizabeth was born on January 10th, 1925 in Montreal, QB to parents Casimir Teoli and Angelina Di Stefano. She graduated from St. Pat's in 1941, 3rd in the province of Quebec Commercial Education which included shorthand, typing, and accounting plus other academic subjects. After graduation, she worked in industry as a bookkeeper to help Canada's war effort.

On February 27, 1954 she married Nicola Alfonso. She worked for Phillip Brothers (a Physical commodities trading firm) for 25+ years and retired in 1985. Elizabeth then moved to Grande Prairie in 1991.

She will be dearly missed by her son Joseph (Michelle) Alfonso; grandchildren: Daniella (Crystal) and Rylan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents Angelina Di Stefano and Casimir Teoli, sisters Mary Goodchild and Lucy Teoli, son Peter Alfonso, and husband Nicola Alfonso.

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 7:00 – 8:00 pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave.) Grande Prairie.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11:00 am, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church (10404 102 St.) Grande Prairie, with interment to follow at the Grande Prairie Cemetery. Following the interment, friends are invited to join the family at Tranquille Hall for fellowship and refreshments.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society (https://alzheimer.ca/en).
