Obituary For Elizabeth "Betty" Barbosa

Elizabeth “Betty” Barbosa, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Sexsmith, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019, at Prairie Lakes Seniors Community, at the age of 97 years.

Betty was born on October 15, 1921 in Forfar, Scotland. She was a Postmistress in WWII, where she met her husband Bob Barbosa. They resided in England, and had their first child, Therese “Tess” there. They moved to Canada in 1954 and lived in Edmonton. Their second child, Bob, was born in Edmonton. Betty worked as a sales clerk at Hudson Bay Company for many years.

In Betty’s later years, she moved to Sexsmith, AB to be close to her daughter Tess. Betty loved to golf as well as sit by a fire with a glass of red wine.

She will be sadly missed by her family: daughter Tess, son Bob, and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held in Spring 2019.

So sorry to hear of Betty's passing. I knew her from Tess and her partner who is my Uncle Gerald. She attended our Mother's Day gathering at Dunvegan for many years. She was a very nice lady. She will be missed by Tess who was such a devoted daughter to her.
