Obituary For Elizabeth Eileen Crowshaw

Elizabeth Eileen Crowshaw (nee O’Connor), mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Betty died peacefully at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the age of 96, with her loving family by her side.

Betty was born in North Riverside, Guysborough County, NS, on March 26, 1928, to John and Mary O’Connor. She grew up on a farm with seven brothers and sisters: Bernard O’Connor, Laurence O’Connor, Joseph O’Connor, John O’Connor, Margaret Connolly, Catherine Fitzpatrick, and David O’Connor. She was the last surviving member of the O’Connor siblings. In 1956, Betty met the love of her life, Stanley (Sam) Crowshaw, and on July 12, 1958, they were married in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Halifax, NS. They started a family of their own and in 1962, Don was born, followed by Janet in 1963. Together they travelled across Europe and Canada through Sam’s work in the military. Everywhere they went, they made friends and memories. In 1978, Betty and Sam finally settled down in Grande Prairie, AB, where their small family grew.

Elizabeth loved spending time with her family, playing cards, sewing, and hosting big family dinners and parties. She loved life and always had a wealth of stories and wisdom to share over a cup of tea or a glass of wine.

She is survived by her husband Stanley (Sam) Crowshaw; son Don Crowshaw (Sherril); daughter Janet (nee Crowshaw) Greenlaw (Roger); grandchildren: Darra Greenlaw (Cody), Derek Greenlaw, Darien Crowshaw (Kayley), and Payton Crowshaw; great-grandchildren: Tristan Greenlaw, Alex Greenlaw, Elizabeth Gunn, Emily Gunn, Sophia Greenlaw, and Everly Compagnon.
