Obituary For Elmer Matheson

It saddens our hearts that we had to say goodbye to our father, Elmer Robert Matheson, longtime resident of Grande Prairie. He passed away at the QEII Hospital early Saturday morning, October 31, 2015 at the age of 73 years.

Elmer was born on September 5, 1942 in Elizabeth Bay, ON. His family moved to the Peace Country in 1947 and settled at the family homestead in Pouce Coupe BC where they resided for many years.

Dad will be sadly missed by his children: Catherine Fox, Denis (Trina) Matheson and Michelle (Bruce) Hoglund; grandchildren: Heather (Colin) Schonke, Chandie Fox, Robert Matheson, Breanna Hoglund, Tyler Fox, twins Kylie-Sarah and Caitlynn Hoglund, and the two youngest Jessie and Summer Matheson; one great-granddaughter on her way due end of November that he was trying to fight so hard to see Liliane Marie Carol Schonke. He is also survived by his eldest brother Ben (Beatrice) Matheson, brother in-law Les Asachuk, sister in-law Shirley Matheson, mother in-law Georgette Waldie, and brothers in-law Gary (Kelly) and Bill Waldie, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Elmer was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Liliane Georgette Matheson, his parents John and Viola Matheson, his sister Elizabeth Asachuk, and brother Dave Matheson.

The Viewing for Elmer Matheson will be held Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 12:30pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave) with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00pm.

Memorial Donations may be made to Grande Prairie Home Care - care of QEII Hospital
