Obituary For Elmer Schultz
Elmer Schultz, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Dalmeny, SK, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the age of 93 years.
Elmer was born in Saskatoon, SK, on August 3, 1928. He grew up on the family farm near Dalmeny, attended Mt. Lake school just a short distance from his home, and graduated from high school in 1949. After high school, he worked on the farm for his brother O.J.and in construction until he purchased his own farm. After a family road trip to spy out the land in the Peace Country in 1967, the family relocated to a farm near Wembley. In 1974, the farm was sold and and the family moved to Grande Prairie where he worked for the Dairy Pool, Loomis, and Purolator. Elmer loved to sing and from an early age, sang in many choirs and groups. He said he earned to sing by imitating George Beverly Shea, the Billy Graham soloist. He sang until his last days.
His retirement years were spent looking after family, spending much time with kids, grandkids and in his last few years, looking after Ruth who needed care.
He was a quiet man and did not seek attention but was faithful in all he did whether it was his employment, his work in the church or caring for those he loved.
Elmer will be sadly missed by Ruth, his wife of 67 years; children: son Loren (Jeannie) Schultz, daughter Karen (Richard) Wall, son Randy (Diane) Schultz, and daughter Heather Schultz; grandchildren: Jason (Wesla) Wall, Chris (Tiffany) Wall, Aaron Wall, Kenton Schultz, Kurtis Schultz, Ryley Schultz (Shaylah Bratt), and Cassandra Schultz; great-grandchildren: Isabel Wall, Emma-Lynn Wall, Alexis Schultz, Zoey Schultz, Maggie Schultz, Liam Schultz, Harrison Wall, Benjamin Wall, and Noah Wall.
Elmer was predeceased by his parents John and Margretha Schultz; sister Ella Thiessen; brother Orlando Schultz; sister Naomi Goetz; as well as two infant sons Howard and Harold.
A Viewing will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 11:00am, at Grande Prairie Alliance Church (15502 102 St.). Interment to follow at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave. and 112th St.).

I have very fond memories of Elmer and his lovely sweet wife Ruth. Two of the gentlest people and good friends of my parents, Irvin and Norma Harder. We also had a large family so occasionally we would spend a Sunday at their farm having dinner and each of us kids pared nicely with the Schultz kids. I was good friends with Karen. Later when I was married and living in Fox Creek, Elmer made deliveries there and he would come and nestle into our living room for a couple hour wait for deliveries back to GP. Those were very special times and Elmer would often be entertained by my little son who grew very fond of him. One day we went to church with my folks and our little guy saw Elmer sitting a few rows in front of us. In the quiet moments before the service started, a little one year olds voice could be heard calling out "Hahmer!" Elmer was beaming! Those were good days. A lovely man who loved God and people. So happy that we will meet Elmer and others that touched our lives again at Gods soon return. Much love to his family from the Harder tribe! Heather Harder Hanthorn

I didn't really know Elmer ....knew him, to see him. I've met Loren and Karen, back in our youth days. In the summer of '74, I worked, in the office at the "Dairy Pool", here in Grande Prairie. He would come, into the office, at least once a day. He tirelessly, in his quiet ways, went about his job. I was shy and quiet, back in those days and so I appreciated how pleasant he was. ....never any back-talk. His passing leaves an empty spot, in your family circle. While he will be missed, you are so blessed with the hope that one day, "you shall meet, on that beautiful shore. Condolences and heartfelt sympathy to each of you.

Our long-time memories of Uncle Elmer's gentle quiet spirit have taught us that it takes a variety of people like him to be an example of peace for so many who long for it. He cared about every single person in his family. He would often call us just to chat while in his heritage lodge room. He cared about his faith and his Lord. He wanted more than life itself for all to share in that heritage. He cared about others and felt their pain. In memory we have donated to interwoven in honor of his care for others. There is most likely a great reunion in heaven with all of his siblings and parents celebrating his arrival. Hugs to all of the family! Carry that torch and press on. Much love, Gary and Cheryl Hawkes
