Obituary For Elmer Wayne Buchberger

Elmer Wayne Buchberger, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of The Pas, MB, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the Buchberger Farm, at the age of 78 years.

Elmer was born on May 10, 1944, to Charles and Dorothea Buchberger. He was the second of four children, born and raised in The Pas. He married Sharon Marlene Scott in 1967 in The Pas and they raised two boys. Being an adventurous spirit, the couple moved from The Pas to Swan River, MB, then to Leaf Rapids, MB, then ventured to Alberta in 1995. They had an acreage in High River, AB, before settling down in Grande Prairie in 1996.

He was always up for giving advice; solicited or unsolicited, but always in a gentle delivery. He had a wonderful sense of humour and an easy-going, straight forward attitude. “Don’t be so stupid all your life.” “Hard work never killed anyone.”

Elmer was a jack-of-all-trades! Horses, welding, woodworking, gardening, working with kids, and cooking.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Sharon Marlene Buchberger; children Barry (Cheryl) Buchberger and Gary Buchberger; grandchildren Heather Porth, Rikki (Colton) Buchberger, Daniel Buchberger, and Chelsea Buchberger; great-granddaughter Jazmyn Porth; older brother Earl “Bucky” (Bonny) Buchberger; younger brother Larry (Lil); younger sister Gloria; nephew Jamie; great-niece Kaia; along with Sharon’s side: mother in-law Phyllis Scott, Brenda (Rick), Carol Scott, Tim (Ann) Scott, Tammy Scott (Jim); many nieces and nephews; as well as the Congregation at Faith Lutheran Church.

He was predeceased by his grandson Kyle Wayne Buchberger; parents Charles “Charlie” Buchberger and Dorothea “Dorothy” Buchberger; father in-law Clayton Scott; brother in-law Mike Chartrand; grandson Kyle Wayne Buchberger; as well as sister in-law Valerie “Val” Chartrand.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 12:00pm, at Faith Lutheran Church in Grande Prairie (9610 108 Ave.).

Anyone that lived in Leaf Rapids, MB must have eaten one of Elmer's delicious Roadrunner Burgers! We always ordered them double bacon and double cheese! They were probably the best burgers I ever ate! I have many good memories of you Elmer and family! My son Tim played hockey with Barry and Gary! RIP Elmer!
