Obituary For Elton "Ozzie" Wilburn Asleson

Ozzie Asleson, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Fairview, AB, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at home, at the age of 92 years.

Ozzie was born in Pouce Coupe, BC, on January 19, 1930. Ozzie spent his early years in the Doe River, BC area, where his parents had a sawmill. He later moved to Dawson Creek, BC, where he completed his schooling. His working career started on the first oil rig in Taylor, BC. Ozzie later moved to Fairview where he began his career in the gas business with Northland Utilities (ATCO). His career lasted 37 years, and he retired at age 57, as a District Manager.

Ozzie was always the hardest worker around. He was very generous with his time, talents, and finances as he tried to lead a life pleasing his Lord.

Ozzie loved gardening, woodworking, construction, and stained glass. He was always curious to learn something new.

Ozzie will be sadly missed by his Wife Barbara Asleson of 67 years; children: Robert (Ramona) and Ken (Cindy); five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; siblings: Marion Hoover, Wayne (Faye) Asleson, and Penny (Willard) Dunn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ozzie was predeceased by his parents Manfred and Clarice Asleson; brother Laurel Asleson; sister in-law Margie Asleson; as well as nephews Trent Asleson and Brick Hoover.

The family would like to invite you to Ozzie’s Funeral Service on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 2:00pm, at Westpointe Community Church in Grande Prairie.

So sorry to hear about Ozzie. He really was a terrific boss and friend. I always enjoyed when he would come into the office to visit with us "potlickers". Heaven gained another wonderful angel. Condolences to Barb and the family.

So sorry to hear of Ozzie's passing, he was Manager when I started in Grande Prairie in 1980. I remember his frequent use of the term "potlicker" (with the wry smile of course!) and the box of donuts he'd always bring along on office visits after retirement. Don Lowe
