Obituary For Elwood Dean Bakos
Elwood Bakos, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, AB, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the age of 47 years.
Elwood was born on February 4, 1976, in Valleyview, AB. He spent his life in Sturgeon Lake and Grande Prairie. He had a passion for music, babes and bikes.
He enjoyed playing live music with his band Mantra, attending concerts, karaoke, powwows, round dancing, and his family and friends. Elwood was a hard-working man, taking pride in providing for his family. He married the love of his life Lanita, and they raised their beautiful children together.
Elwood will be sadly missed by his wife Lanita Morin-Bakos; children: Dakota (John), Brooklynn, Samantha, Levi, River, Lazarus, and Jagger; grandchildren Elliott and Benson; parents: Marion Badger, Karen Kiyawasew, and Al Bakos; siblings: Kendall, Moe (Carma), Kelvin (Kate), Alfred, Amanda, and Michelle (Garth); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Elwood was predeceased by his son baby boy Bauder; father Peter “Gilligan” Kiyawasew; grandparents: Bernard “Barney” and Cecile Kiyawasew, Nancy Badger and Peter Cunningham; siblings Carin and Franklin Kiyawasew; as well as his adopted mother Dora Bakos.
A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 12:00-6:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 10:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home. Service to follow at 11:00am. Interment to follow at 1:00pm, at Sturgeon Lake Cemetery.
