Obituary For Eric Charles Dane

It is with profound sadness that his family make known that Eric Charles Dane of rural Hythe, AB passed away at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, from complications related to his leukemia diagnosis made just over a year ago. He was 64 years old. His family was at his bedside.

Eric was born in Wingham, Ontario. His family moved out to Alberta when he was four years old. He grew up on a farm outside of Hythe with his three sisters Ann, Sandra and Kris, and a brother Brent. He married Laureen Kjemhus on November 2, 1979. Together Eric and Laureen raised three children: Shelby, Keith and Lesley.

Eric knew at a very young age that he wanted to be a farmer and take over his father’s farm. There are few people in this world that have a passion for their career as Eric did towards farming. He especially loved the cattle industry. When Eric’s grandchildren came along, he would stop whatever he was doing and be the best Grandpa any man could possibly be.

Eric will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 39 years Laureen; children: Shelby (Derek) Robertson, Keith (Miranda) Dane and Lesley (Mark) Brazier; as well as his precious grandchildren: Kayla, Keira and Dean Robertson and Fynn and Leon Brazier.

Eric was predeceased by his sister Kris Moe, brother in-law Randy Moe, parents George and Kay Dane, infant brother Warren, and his parents in-law Ole and Bernice Kjemhus.

A Celebration of Eric’s Life will be held Sunday, June 9, 2019, at 1:00pm at the Hythe Legion (10212 100 Ave).

Memorial donations may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (804-2 Lansing Square, Toronto, ON, M2J 4P8, https://www.llscanada.org).

We love you and you will forever be in our hearts.

Hello Laureen, My mom Marion informed me of Eric's passing today. I am really sad for you and your family. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. I was also very saddened to hear of Kris's recent passing as well. That is a heavy burden to bear for all involved. I really liked Eric with his subtle sense of humour. Though we weren't in regular contact, I enjoyed our time together especially with Aunt Kay and I will think of him fondly and trust you can find comfort in the memories and the pleasant times. Sincerely, Larry
