Obituary For Eric Kjetil Boe
Eric Kjetil Boe, resident of Beaverlodge, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and long-time friend Pete, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the age of 82 years at the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital.
Eric was born in Grande Prairie, AB, on June 13,1942 to Torbjorn Boe and Renee Clarke. He was an only child and was raised on the family farm located in the Beaverlodge area. He attended grade one at the Mountainside and then finished the remainder of his schooling in Beaverlodge. When he completed his schooling, he began his career slashing trees for a sawmill and then later for the Department of Highways throughout Alberta.
He met Jeanette Nichol in 1961and they married in 1963. He was proud to celebrate 61 years of marriage. Together they raised three children, Sherri, Robin and Michele. The following years had him doing seismic work in the Northwest Territories and the Yukon. He was also employed at the United Grain Growers in Hythe AB, while managing things on the family farm with his parents. They took over the family farm in 1966, and he would continue also working off the farm for the Canadian Forces Station in Beaverlodge, as well as the Beaverlodge Research Station before his retirement. His loves on the farm were his cattle and his dog Dakota. Eric was very passionate about his ancestry and the stock market. He lived on, worked on and loved the family farm that was homesteaded by his parents until his passing.
Eric was a kind, gentle, hardworking family man. He was proud to be a husband, father, grandpa and a great grandpa One of his granddaughters quoted that, “He was a good grandpa and a jolly guy”. His spirit will live on in our memories and our hearts forever.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Jeanette (Nichol) Boe; children: Sherri (Allan Tofteland) Robinson, Robin (Lisa) Boe, Michele (Chad) Staggs; grandchildren: Shaun Robinson, Jamie (Keltie) Robinson, Riley (Danielle Penner) Robinson, Shelby (Mike) Lee, Kaycee (Ryder Mead) Boe, Tyler (Kailie Rogan) Boe, Owen Boe, Libby Staggs, Jeremiah Staggs, Hannah (Nick Shukin) Staggs; great-grandchildren: Rayne Robinson, Ryder Robinson, Hunter Robinson, Sterling Robinson, Waylon McDonald, Timber McDonald, Oslo Lee, Corb Lee, Chance Hodgson, Cohen Hodgson.
He was predeceased by his parents, Torbjorn and Renee (Clarke) Boe; infant sister Carolyn; father and mother-in-law Roy Nichol, Marjorie Nichol-Bender, Alec Bender; brothers-in-law: Doug Nichol, Ken Nichol, and Dennis Norman.
The interment will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Beaverlodge Cemetery (95003 AB-667, Beaverlodge). Following the interment a Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm at the Beaverlodge Community Centre (1016 4th Avenue).
The family would like to thank the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital staff for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Mountview Health Complex. (Cheques can be mailed to Box 30, Beaverlodge, AB, T0H 0C0- Please write “In memorial of Eric Kjetil Boe” in the memo)
