Obituary For Erin Bruce Patterson

Erin Bruce Patterson, resident of Grande Cache, AB, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the age of 56 years.

Erin chose Grande Cache as his final home. Born in Fort Churchill, MB, he spent his early years in the Northwest Territories. Inuvik was always the place he referred to as home. Erin moved to Grande Cache to help his mother and father in their later years.

Erin was kind to all that he knew and was loved by his family immensely. He cherished all the people he was close to, none more than his nephew Andrew Bruce Willy, with whom he had a special bond. Erin was kind, and gentle, but firm when he needed to be.

Erin enjoyed spending time with his closest friends and going on road trips with Dave Oddy. He enjoyed having long philosophical discussions with anyone who would engage and spending time with Deb Oddy.

Erin will be sadly missed by his sister Karen Willy, nephew Andrew Willy, as well as his chosen family Dave and Deb Oddy. He will also be missed by many friends that he encountered over the years.

Erin was predeceased by his mother Patricia Patterson and his father Donald Patterson. Erin did not want a celebration of life. Erin’s ashes along with his Mother’s and Father’s will be scattered in Grande Cache during the summer of 2022, so that they all remain together.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Grande Cache Hospital Foundation (Box 1202, Grande Cache, AB, T0E 0Y0), or to the Canadian Cancer Society AB/NWT Division (200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5).

Erin was my best friend growing up in Inuvik. We always found a way to enjoy life to the fullest. He was an easy choice to be my best man. Although we lost contact over the years he was and will always remain one of those solid people you could ever meet. Rest In Peace brother, I will raise a glass to you 🙏

Erin was a sweet, kind and gentle person, and a good friend while we all lived in Inuvik. I have fond memories of Erin, dancing at the Zoo, chit chats when stop in at the stationary store. And those bears...rest now Erin, mind your in good company, so perhaps Party On is the better way to end this.
