Obituary For Esther Ziegenhagel

Esther Ziegenhagel (Anderson), nee Deering, resident of Prince George, BC, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 in the hospital in Prince George, BC, at the age of 94 years.

Esther was born February 13, 1925 in Estuary, SK.

Esther’s nursing career brought her to Peace River and, in 1950, to the nursing outpost in Dixonville where she met and married Richard Anderson in 1951. They lived on the homestead near Dixonville until 1968 when Richard’s career took them to Eaglesham. They lived in several other communities in Alberta before settling in Sexsmith just before his retirement. When Richard passed away in 1994, Esther moved to Medicine Hat. She eventually met George Ziegenhagel and they were married in 2001. Esther once again became a widow in 2002, but remained in Medicine Hat. It wasn’t until 2005 that she moved to Prince George to be closer to her family.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Allan Anderson, Bonnie (Mike) Callister, and John (Rhonda) Anderson; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Paul (Viola) Deering, and Lloyd Deering; brother in-law Peter (Pat) Anderson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and many dear friends.

Esther was predeceased by her husband Richard Anderson, husband George Ziegenhagel, youngest son Wade Anderson, brothers John and Hank, sisters Mary and Pauline, and her sister in-law Gwen.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life Service and Luncheon to be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 1:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

For family and close friends there will also be a Viewing beginning at 11:00am prior to the service.

Esther will be laid to rest in Dixonville Cemetery on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at 11:00am.
