Obituary For Floyd Mayer

Floyd Mayer, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 80 years.

Floyd was born at home, in Sexsmith, AB, on October 16, 1937. He was raised two and a half miles north of Highway 43 in Kleskun Hills, where he farmed with his family for 50 years.

He worked for Hillside Poultry Farms for 23 years and spent seven and a half years with Grande Prairie Chrysler.

He always had a joke to tell whenever he met anyone.

Floyd loved to keep busy, if he didn’t have a project on the go, he manufactured work, one of his favorite being woodworking.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, of 54 years, Laurette; children: Wayne, Wanda (Russ), and Bobbie (Billy); sister in-law Florence Mayer; brother in-law Joe Blanchette; as well as numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

He was predeceased by his parents Ben and Emma Mayer; sister Eveline Thompson and brothers; Victor and Irvin Mayer.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017, from 3:00-5:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie, AB.

Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke of Alberta. (Unit 109, 10126-120 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB. T8V 8H9), or charity of your choice.
