Francis Alexander Thomas, resident of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, AB, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021, in Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation at the age of 73 years.

Francis was born October 18, 1947, and raised in Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation. Francis raised his family by his hard work in the bush, falling trees and fixing chainsaws. He raised his children in Clairmont, AB. His two oldest children were born in Grande Prairie, AB, and the youngest in Valleyview, AB, with Evangeline. He enjoyed fixing bikes for all the kids and buying ice cream.

Francis was a hard worker, loyal friend, and a giving person. He loved his family, and will surely be missed.

Francis loved many things including fishing, dancing, hunting, and taking care of his family and friends. Francis was a backyard mechanic, and very intelligent.

Francis will be sadly missed by his children: Janine Angus (Patrick), Owen Thomas (Bonnie), and Cory Thomas (Lorna); grandchildren: Zachary, Kaylee, Myah, Ava, and Emma; as well as siblings: Larry, Charlie, Cecilia, Edna, Cindy, and Virgina.

Francis was predeceased by his mother Evelyn Thomas; father Francis Campbell; sisters: Lorraine, Bernadette, Geraldine, and Theresa; two infant brothers; as well as many other loved ones.

A Wake will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021, at 9:00am, at Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation Hall. The Funeral Service to follow the wake at 2:30pm.
