Obituary For Fred Fischer

Fred (Friedrich) Fischer, of Sturgeon Heights AB, formerly of Calgary, passed away suddenly after a short battle with cancer on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, at the age of 77.

Fred came to Canada from Germany as a young man of 23 to make a better life for his family and settled in Calgary. After many years it was his dream to escape the city and make a retirement home in Sturgeon Heights. This place truly stole his heart and became the only place he wanted to be. It is in this place the family will hold a celebration of Fred's life at a later date.

Fred will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years Linda (Gerlinde), their children Fred and Klaus of Calgary AB, Siegi of Strathmore AB, Heidi (Ted) of Sturgeon Heights AB; sisters Klara and Thea in Germany, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Fred (Opa) will forever be remembered by his eight grandchildren: Friedrich, Samuel, Tabatha (Frank), Nicholas, Kristopher, Ashley, Alexandra, Justyn and his great-granddaughter Brooklyn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alberta Institution for Wildlife Conservation (Box 68 Madden Alberta T0M 1L0).
