Obituary For Fred Sandul
Fred Sandul resident of Rycroft, AB, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at The Central Peace Health Complex at the age of 91 years.
Fred was born on November 30, 1929, to Mary and Fred Sandul Sr. He was born on the family farm where he continued to grow up and live his life. He, along with his siblings, attended the Greenway School, then Rycroft School for Grades 10 and 11. Fred lived the farm life, taking winter jobs with High Tower Drilling, Dika Construction and Neils Agri Services. He was active in his community right up to the time that Alzheimer’s started taking over his life.
He always had a nickname for his kids, grandkids and dearest friends. He was known for his many sayings and great stories.
Fred loved snowmobiling, jet-boating the Peace, woodworking, gardening alongside Mary, and visits from his kids, grandkids and friends. Most of all, he loved his fishing trips to Kitimat, BC.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 68 years, Mary; daughters: Donna, Georgia and Charlene; son Brad; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Fred was predeceased by his parents Mary and Fred Sr.; brother Bill Sandul; sisters: Jean Solomany, Anne Bahry, Pauline Klaepatch and twin sister Mae Basisty, who passed 30 hours earlier than he.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Greenway Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to The Central Peace Resident Family Council (P.O. Box 825, Spirit River, AB, T0H 3G0).

I am sorry to read this, though Iâ??ve come to expect and accept this part of our lives. Fred was one of my very favourite people from the time I was a little guy in Rycroft, to my many visits over the last nearly 50 years. I would always run into Fred or Mary during my visit - my good luck. He would always ask me about life, kids, mom and dad. It didnâ??t matter how long it was - Fred had a charming way, delivered with an easy smile, to make what you were chatting about interesting and important. That continued right up until a few years ago when it seemed something was â??offâ?? and now I see your post and understand why. It is a terrible cruelty that these diseases take those very things that make our parents who they are. But my memories will always be the kindness and interest Fred showed me and my family. And while Covid doesnâ??t allow for a proper send off, whenever I am at Greenway visiting Dad, I will also be sure to visit Fred - a trip to Rycroft wouldnâ??t be the same without it. And when you all get together please let me know, I would very much enjoy seeing you all and to pay proper tribute to your Dad. My love to you all at this sad time.
