Obituary For Frieda Schellenberger Breitkreutz
It is with sadness, the family announces the passing Frieda Eleanora (Schellenberger) Breitkreutz on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 peacefully at the Grande Prairie Care Center.
Frieda was born on January 30, 1924 in Golden Spike, AB to Fred and Caroline Schellenberger. She became a member of the Christian Church through infant baptism in Golden Spike. In 1938, she renewed her baptismal vows and professed her faith in God at her confirmation at St. John’s Church in Wembley, AB.
On December 26, 1943 Frieda married Carl Breitkreutz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wembley. This marriage was blessed with five children; Edwin (Marilyn) Breitkreutz, Gerald (Glenda) Breitkreutz, Gladys (Gerry) Parker, Clarence (Kaye Davidson) Breitkreutz and Louise Breitkreutz. Frieda is also survived by eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter.
Frieda was predeceased by her husband Carl Breitkreutz and her parents Fred and Caroline Schellenberger, one infant son, two brothers and one sister.
She is also survived by one brother Milton Schellenberger and one sister Norma Mayer; and her sisters in-law: Olga Breitkreutz, Clara Schram, Jeannine Breitkreutz, Ida Breitkreutz, Elenora Breitkreutz, Elizabeth Breitkreutz and Julia Flath.
Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke of Alberta (Unit 109 10126 120 Ave. Grande Prairie, AB T8V 8H9), or to the Faith Lutheran Building Fund (9610 108 Ave. Grande Prairie, AB T8V 1N3).
A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 10:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church in Grande Prairie (9610 108 Ave.), with viewing held prior to service.
A special thank you to the staff of Pioneer Lodge and Grande Prairie Care Center for making the last chapter of Frieda’s life very comfortable.
