Obituary For Gayle Tink Moon

Our mom, sister, grandma, GG, aunt, and friend, Gayle Moon (nee Tink), passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 9, 2017, due to illness, in hospital, in Edmonton, AB, at the age of 76 years.

She was born to Rachel (Brown) and Roy Tink in Sexsmith on August 1, 1940. The family homesteaded at Smokey Heights and later moved to Sexsmith, then Clairmont.

Gayle was a born caregiver. She nurtured five younger siblings: Bryan, Gwen, Marlene, Darrel, and Dennis; her children: Janice, David and Barbara; and six foster children: Greg, Tessica, Elvina, Kenny, John, and Cassie.

Gayle's grandchildren, Kelsey, Myles, and Nikki, brought special joy to her life, as did her GG boys, great-grandsons: Owen, Evan, and Cullen.

Gayle and her husband, Neil, were foster parents for 18 years and were honoured by the Province of Alberta as the foster family of the year in 1999. Gayle later pioneered "The Moon Project", a group home for adults with special needs. Gayle and Neil were also active in 4H for decades.

Gayle and Neil resided on the Moon homestead/farm for 40 years until Neil's death in 2013. Gayle was an avid gardener; she was artistic: she loved music, painting, and floral design. Gayle was determined. She had a wicked sense of humour and a way with words. She knew how to laugh! We will miss her so much.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 2:00pm, at St. Paul's United Church in Grande Prairie, AB (10206 100 Ave.). Viewing will take place on Friday, January 13, 2017, at 8:00pm, at Oliver's Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

Flowers gratefully accepted - Gayle loved flowers! - or memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in her name.
