Obituary For George Albert Aubin

It is with heavy hearts that we the family of George Aubin, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, announce his passing at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, on Monday, October 16, 2023, at the age of 78 years.

George was born to Emile and Cecile Aubin in McLennan, AB, on November 26, 1944. He was the oldest of four children raised on the family farm in Falher, AB, where he spent his early years. He was a man of all trades; he worked many different jobs and learned a lot. His strength was in mechanics. He could fix anything, and often invented his own solutions and built things himself. George bought a gravel truck in 1973, and chose that as his lifelong career.

In 1969, George married the love of his life Cecile, and together they had 3 children. They moved to Grande Prairie in 1970. George worked hard to provide for his family. He was a very proud man. He survived multiple health issues which we are sure his sheer determination and stubbornness helped him make it through. Following his stroke in 2001, he retired from trucking, and learned to cook, and adapted to life at home. We were so lucky to have as much time with him as we did. George loved live music, western movies, Elvis Presley, hunting, Roseā€™s cookies, tinkering in his shop, and spending time on the acreage with his grandchildren.

George will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years Cecile Aubin; children: Christine (Mike) Rappel, Rosanne (Blair) Stavast, and Ricky (Jennifer) Aubin; grandchildren: Gregory, Jordan, Bradley, and Emily Rappel, Chase and Rayna Stavast, Tristan and Keifer Quintal, and Austin and Lexi Aubin; brother Fern Aubin; sisters Sylvianne (Norbert) Pinard, and Bernadette Rouleau; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

George was predeceased by his parents Emile and Cecile Aubin; and his grandson Kayden Aubin.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mizzau, Dr. Richard Martin, Sheila, and the ICU staff who gave George exceptional care while he was in the hospital.

A Viewing for George will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 5:30pm, at Oliverā€™s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005-107 Ave).

At Georgeā€™s request there will not be a funeral service.

Interment to take place Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 2:00pm, at Grande Prairie City Cemetery (84th Ave and 112th St.).

A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Georgeā€™s obituary on Oliverā€™s Funeral Home website. Please note it will take you to Facebook as this will be broadcasted Facebook Live.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada (1200-2300 Yonge Street, Box 2414, Toronto, ON, M4P 1E4), or www.heartandstroke.ca.
