George Dale Gouchey, resident of Valleyview, AB, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 60 years.

George was born on March 11, 1964, in Grande Prairie, AB. He was raised in a place called 7 Miles North, which was located 7 miles north of Valleyview on an acreage owned by his grandparents, Henry and Elizabeth Gouchey. When George grew older, he moved to Valleyview to live with his mother, Caroline Gouchey. George would spend time back and forth between Valleyview and his grandparents’ acreage.

Over the course of his life, George worked for the Town of Valleyview as a recycler and also as a pipeliner for Midwest.

George was known as a happy-go-lucky man who loved rodeos, cowboy lifestyle, guitars, horses and Elvis’ music. George often would say “what’s a cowboy got to do in this situation” and “Let the cowboys ride!”.

George enjoyed hanging around with his family and friends, playing music and singing. George liked to go hunting with his brother-in-law Fred Mustus. He could often be found with his best friend, Allen Gougeon at his side, as well as his other childhood friends. He also enjoyed sitting and listening to music at Edna and Fred Mustus’ smokehouse located in Sturgeon Lake, AB.

George will be sadly missed by his grandchildren: Becki Mustus, Brenna Wells- Mustus, Brady Wells-Mustus, Tori Mustus, Kennadee Horseman, Kristin Horseman, Kole Mustus-Chowace, Keith Horseman; great-grandchildren: Kaize Tharwat-Mustus, and Bria Tharwat-Mustus; siblings: Edna Mustus, Rocky-Wallace Gouchey, Frank Gouchey, Tom Gouchey, Marge Cunningham; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

George was predeceased by his mother Caroline Gouchey; father Victor Mitchell; grandparents Henry and Elizabeth Gouchey; brother Robert Gouchey; nephew Bruce Mustus; as well as cousins: Winston Gouchey, Harry Gouchey, and Marvelene Gouchey.

A viewing was held for George on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 6:30 pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service was held for George on Saturday, January 5, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 - 107 Ave).
