Gerald “Gerry” Phillip Thomas, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Peace River, AB, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Prairie Lake Hospice surrounded by loved ones at the age of 64 years.

Gerry was born on April 16, 1960, to Louis and Delphine Thomas and was one of 8 siblings. As a child he attended the Peace School of Hope in Grande Prairie. After graduation, he began his long career. Gerry was a dedicated and hardworking man. He began working at Swan Industries where he spent forty-four years. He also worked at Plus II Bottle Depot for thirty-eight years and the Holiday Inn Express for sixteen years. Gerry made many great connections and lifelong friends at each of his workplaces.

Gerry loved to travel anywhere- near or far. His favorite being Hawaii. He was a man of faith and was a long-time member of the McLaurin Baptist Church. He enjoyed attending Joy Chapel every Thursday evening. He loved hockey; he was an avid Oilers fan and never missed a Grande Prairie Storm game.

Gerry was a loving, compassionate, and kind man. He had an infectious smile that will be missed by everyone who knew him. He was a caring brother and friend. Whether it was a friend, neighbour, or coworker, Gerry always took the time to ask about the well-being of others, even their pets.

Gerry will be sadly missed by his sister, Mary Gray; and brothers: Peter Thomas, Joe Thomas, and Charlie Thomas.

Gerry was predeceased by his father Louis Thomas; mother Delphine Thomas (nee Ferguson); as well as brothers: David, Lloyd, John and Henry Thomas.

Signature Support Services had the pleasure of supporting Gerry since he was a child. Gerry was well loved by all of his Signature Support family. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was part of his life. A special thank you to the palliative care team and support staff for taking such wonderful care of him during his final days.

Memorial donations may be made in Gerry’s honor to the Grande Prairie Palliative Care Society.

Gerry’s legacy of kindness, empathy and love will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to be part of his life.

A Funeral service for Gerry will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at McLaurin Baptist Church (10913 107 Ave Grande Prairie, AB T8V 7P9).
