Obituary For Gina Marie Goy (nee Jebb)

Gina Goy, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away Friday, July 28, 2023, peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 53 years.

Gina was born on January 12, 1970, and was raised in the Peace Country area residing in Sexsmith, AB, where she graduated. Always independent and adventurous, Gina moved to Kelowna, BC, where she enrolled and graduated from hairdressing school than moved to Calgary, AB, to continue her craft and enjoying numerous activities from skiing, rafting, skydiving, to drive-in movies.

Gina was an avid golfer and looked forward to her weekly poker games with her ‘poker friends’, family get togethers, and even some camping.

Gina moved back to Grande Prairie, and promptly opened her own studio in 1997, which she cleverly named Studio 97. She continued this right up until the day she was no longer able too.

In summer of 1999, Gina met the love of her life, Ed Goy, through common friends and were married August 18, 2001. Gina and Ed enjoyed many adventures together and with their common love of dogs raised numerous ‘Fur Babies’ as Gina would call them.

Gina was a big lover of family and was the nucleus of arranging and hosting many family functions. Selfless and unassuming, Gina was always going out of her way to help others, she was the family’s ‘Go To’ person. She leaves behind big shoes to fill.

Gina will be sadly missed by her husband Ed; her two Fur Babies Castor and Tim; father Ed Jebb; brothers: Jay Jebb (Jennifer), Dwayne Cooke, Rod Jebb, Shawn (Andrea) Cooke, Rick (Sarah) Jebb, and Sheldon Cooke; brothers in-law Mike Goy and Kenneth Goy; sister in-law Hazel Middleton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Gina was predeceased by her mom Donna Cooke; stepfather Ronald Cooke; father and mother in-law Jack and Freda Goy; as well as nephew Dalin Cooke.

There will be no funeral service held.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Gina. She was my hairstylist when she had Studio 97 downtown across from the Market. Gina was always a good listener when we chatted. I last saw Gina was in April for my usual summer hair color. I will miss her smile whenever I saw her. Truly sorry for loss. Donna Neil-client
