Obituary For Gordon Cecil Leslie

Gordon Cecil Leslie passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017, at the age of 58 years.

Gord was born in Grande Prairie, AB and grew up in the Westmark and Woking areas. He moved to an acreage outside Spirit River with the love of his life, marrying her in 1989.

Gord’s younger years were spent working in the oilfield and on a barge in the Beaufort Sea for ATL. There he survived an earthquake when the barge he worked on broke anchor, was tossed about the sea, and Esso Rig 7 went down.

His love for horses, animals, and the outdoors lead him to live a simple life. Gord battled with a diagnosis of Cervical Dystonia since 1993, and passed away shortly after his diagnosis of brain cancer.

Left to mourn are his wife Carrie (nee Knezevich); two beautiful children: daughter Allie and son Gage; sister Donna Jamison, brother Dale (Doreen) Leslie, sister Darline (Raymond) Martin, and sister in-law Sheryl Leslie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews.

Gord was predeceased by his father Cecil Henry Leslie on April 2, 1959, mother Mary Nicholson Leslie (nee Foster) on October 22, 1999, step-father Gordon Lowry Peebles, brother Ken Leslie, nephew Troy Leslie, brother in-law Ken Jamison, and life-long friend Clay. May they all rest in peace.

A Private Family Service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (550 St. Clair Ave W, Unit 209,Toronto, ON, M6C 1A5).
