Obituary For Gordon David Erickson

Gordon David Erickson, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Hines Creek AB, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 66 years.

Gord was adopted at the age of one and started his life at the family farm in Hines Creek, AB. Gord loved his time on the farm and would wander around with his horse, Chicka, for hours. He participated in PARDS for many years, spent every Friday supper at Zellers until they closed, loved the horse races, enjoyed the Eastlink Centre, Joy Chapel, and having coffee with friends. Over the years, Gord had many opportunities to travel to many places such as Hawaii, Vegas, Victoria, Mexico, and many other tropical places.

He attended Peace School of Hope and lived in the Barrydale Dorm. He then attended a variety of Vocational settings including Diversional Ceramics and Swan Industries for 37 years.

Gord will be sadly missed by his twin brother Glenn Erikson; sisters: Marilyn (Herman) Peters, Maxine Madden, Jeannie Dumont, Gail Riggs, Marylinn Frazer, Darlene Nelson, and Donna Araujo; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews; as well as many friends and family from Signature Support Services.

He was predeceased by his parents Sven and Ella Erikson, his biological mother, and his longtime friend Cheryl McLean.

A Celebration of Gord’s Life will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). Reverend George Malcolm Officiating. Fellowship and interment to follow.

Memorial donations may be made to PARDS (8202 84 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8X 0L6).

Condolences

  • June 24, 2021

Glenn: My sincere condolences to you and the rest of Gordie's family. Over the years I had often wondered what had happened to Gordie and where he ended up living. He and my sister, Darlene Pratt went to school together. They were their own little gang of two. Both were impish and could get away with murder. I know they were two that never sat or listened to their teacher and more or less just roamed the school. That is until they got into Mrs. Vass' room and then things changed. I know they stayed friends right up until Darlene's passing in 1968. I am sure Darlene was there to greet him and show him the ropes. Take care. Roberta (Pratt) and Dale Barber
