Gordon Townsend, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away in Grande Prairie on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the age of 83 years.

Gordon was born December 28, 1932. He was born and raised in Lethbridge, AB. In his early years he worked for CN Rail. Gordon traveled through AB and BC doing various jobs, then settled in Williams Lake, BC working for the Lumber Mills.

In 1978 met and married Hilda Annie Czubey after moving to Grande Prairie. He worked for The City of Grande Prairie and retired in 1992. Gordon enjoyed collecting pens, pennies and hats. He was a very outgoing person and enjoyed going for coffee with their friends.

He leaves behind his wife Hilda; children: Linda (Leroy) Robbins, Alan (Gloria) Czubey, and Glenn (Margaret) Czubey; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and Gordon’s long-time friend Dave Smashnuck.

The Viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 7:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 1:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home with Burial to follow at Grande Prairie Cemetery (84^th Ave. and 112^th St.)
