Obituary For Guy Nelson
Guy Nelson, resident of Grande Prairie, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017, in Edmonton, AB, at the age of 57 years.
Guy was born on December 14, 1960, in North Battleford, SK, but spent his life in Grande Prairie where his children are. He applied himself to different jobs throughout his life and always worked hard. He was a man who always tried and worked to the best of his abilities. He was a friend who would go out of his way to help and be there for his friends when they needed him. Most importantly, he was a father who took pride in his children and loved them dearly, thought of them every day, and wanted the best for them. He left his children with fond memories that they will hold onto dearly and they are immensely proud of him.
He absolutely loved listening to music and watching movies. Rock and Classical are completely different genres of music, but he loved listening to both. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and had a passion for learning as much as he could about his Scandinavian heritage. He was a man who kept his distance, but loved profusely.
Guy will be remembered in the hearts of his family: son Joshua (Becky) Nelson, daughter Kaitlin Nelson, grandchildren Draeton and Saige Nelson, and sister Judy Nelson-Chalifoux. He will also be remembered by a large extended family. He will be loved forever by his family.
Guy was predeceased by his father Lenard Leslie Nelson, mother Marie Madeline Nelson (nee Poitras), and his good friend Ronald J. LeBlanc.
The Viewing and Prayers will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at 7:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017, at 11:00am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.).
