Obituary For Harry Edward Howell
Harry Edward Howell, resident of Clairmont, AB, formerly of Whitburn, AB, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, May 6, 2019, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 94 years.
Harry was born on October 21, 1924 in Hatherleigh, SK; the eighth child of John and Emily. His parents both passed away when he was 3 years old which scattered the family. Harry was raised by John and Margaret Ebert in Tees, AB. He went to work for a local farmer at 14 years of age. In 1941, he enlisted in the Airforce and trained as a mechanic. He finished his training in Calgary and Red Deer, as the war ended three weeks prior to Harry being shipped overseas.
Upon being hired by Canadian Utilities in Grande Prairie, he caught the bus north, not knowing where Grande Prairie actually was situated.
He met Mae Scott in February of 1948 which led to their marriage on December 1, 1951. Having 5 children gave Harry the family he wanted so much since he was orphaned at such a young age.
He was a farmer, and trapper. He received the highest price for a blanket beaver at a fur auction Canada wide one year. He was on I.D. Council and Advisory Council for 12 years. He loved to play guitar and sing with family. Cards and pool also kept him smiling.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 67 years, Mae; his children of whom he was so proud: Edward (Mary), Gordon (Brenda), Bonnie (Ed), Marianne (Luc), and Kathy (Mark); grandchildren: Trevor (Danika) and Ryan (Hannah), Tyler and Ashley (Jonathon), Travis (Jessica), Anna (John) and Emilia (Mat); and great-grandchildren Pearson and Alexandra.
Harry was predeceased by his parents John and Emily; sister Margaret; and brothers: Gordon, Tom, Alvin, Roy, Oscar, Gilbert, and Stanley.
Cremation will take place, and no service will be held.
Memorial donations may be made to STARS (10911 123 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 7Z3) or to Salvation Army (9615 102 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2T8).

Dear Mae, See that you have just recently lost your husband. I am so sorry, and want you to know that I'm thinking of you. Did not have the pleasure of knowing him, but he must have been a very nice man to have been married to such a lovely person as you! It is definitely not fun to lose your life partner, but you will have many good memories.
