Obituary For Harry Neil Hart

Harry Neil Hart, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Golden Meadow Whitelaw District, AB, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021, at the QEII Hospital at the age of 95 years.

Harry was born on December 10, 1925, in Medicine Hat, AB. At the age of 3, he moved to Golden Meadow in the Whitelaw District. Harry attended high school in Fairview, AB, and went on to the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, for his Agricultural Degree. Harry did Soil Surveying in the Peace River and Grande Prairie areas, as well as custom farming with his brother Don. He began full-time employment with plant products in Grande Prairie in 1955, until 1990, when he retired. He married Eileen Maitland in 1968, in Grande Prairie, where they went on to have two children, Laurie and Andrew.

Harry, always the optimist, had a voracious appetite for learning, and was a great source of information on a wide variety of topics. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and picking morel mushrooms.

Harry will be sadly missed by his son Andrew Hart (Brenda Baron); daughter Laurie Hart; grandchildren Ryan Hart (Kayla Laurin), and Hailey Hart; great-grandchildren Amara Hart; brother Don Hart; nephew Gary Gerrard; as well as many more family, and friends.

Harry was predeceased by his wife Eileen Hart (2013); sisters Mildred Hart (Gerrard), and Ellen Hart; and brother Lyle Hart.

    I chatted with Harry while visiting my Mother at the lodge. Harry was a brilliant man and could talk to anyone. He was wise in so many ways, I wish I had known him earlier. You were blessed to have him as your Dad.
