Helen Rigler, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, born in Lake Saskatoon, AB, in her grandma’s house at 1:30 pm, on February 23, 1935. Helen passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the Grande Prairie Care Centre, at the age of 88 years.

She was the middle child of 3 children to Marjorie and Hugh Smith. They grew up on the farm and attended school until grade 9.

Helen was a waitress at the Nu Palace Café where she met the love of her life Bill Rigler, they were together for 1.5 years before he asked her to be his wife. Helen and Bill married on June 19, 1957, and had 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

She worked for many years as a nurse’s assistant in the Peace River Region. Helen was happy, fun, loving, gentle, and genuine.

Her favorite thing to do was spend time with family and friends. She loved baking, bowling, and watching curling, hockey, football, and wrestling.

Helen will be sadly missed by her children: Elaine (Innes), Garry (Susan), and Judy (Csaba); grandchildren: Kevin, Stacy, and Scott; great-grandchildren: Kade, Seraya, Karsen, Killian, and Avah; as well as many family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband William “Bill”, and grandchildren Kristian and Anthony.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave.). Interment to follow at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave and 112th St.).
