Obituary For Helen Wawreniuk Sandul

Helen Sandul (nee Wawreniuk), born August 20, 1934 in Rycroft, AB, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Central Peace Health Complex in Spirit River at the age of 82.

Helen will be greatly missed by her husband George of 63 years and daughters Doreen (Wayne) Fofonoff, Janice (Ben) White, Debbie (Chesty) Wolfaardt, Mavis Gray, Terry (Ken) Noonan, Shelly (Peter) Woolf; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren; as well as her extended family and many friends.

Helen was predeceased by her parents Peter and Dora Wawreniuk and siblings Mary Skoworodko, Ann Gray, Mike Wawreniuk, Alice Kotyk and Bill Wawreniuk.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11:00am at Spirit of Peace United Church in Spirit River (4902 45 Ave.), with Rev. Joan Kennedy officiating. A Viewing will be held prior from 9:30-10:30am. Interment to follow the service at Devale Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Central Peace Health Complex Auxiliary (P.O. Box 339 Spirit River, AB T0H 3G0), or to a charity of your choice.

I got to know Helen when she decided to come to Spirit River Active Aging. She was happy to try all the different exercises and equipment. She was fiesty and I missed her when she decided she could no longer keep up. My sincere condolences to you all.
