Obituary For Henry Arvin Spacil
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Henry Spacil, resident of Agassiz, BC, formerly of Sexsmith, AB. Henry passed away, surrounded by his family, on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital, 4 days short of his 91st birthday.
Henry was born on April 18, 1932, in Sexsmith, where he was raised on a farm close to town, along with his 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Henry met the love of his life, Elsie Fedchuk and they were married on October 17, 1956. They had three children: Valerie, Wayne, and Laurie. Henry worked on the farm and in several different sectors of the oilfield.
Henry spent approximately the last 30 years in the Hope, BC, area where he enjoyed his retirement.
He will be sadly missed by daughter Valerie Hoag (Dale) of Badheart, AB, son Wayne Spacil (Sharon) of Peace River, AB, and daughter Laurie Wilhelm (Marten) of Callignee, Australia. He will also be missed by his 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Elsie; his parents Anton and Anna; and siblings Genevieve, Emily, Julie, Joe, John, Carl, Bill, and Edward.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at ward Baker 2 of the Abbotsford Regional Hospital for their care and compassion during their Dad's final days.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 3:00pm, at Oliver's Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005-107 Ave.). Followed by a time of fellowship with interment to take place at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave. and 112th St.).
A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Henry’s obituary on Oliver’s Funeral Home website.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers may be sent to Oliver's Funeral Home, or a donation to the charity of one's choice.
