Obituary For Henry William Hessler

Henry William Hessler, resident of Fourth Creek, AB, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020, at the Central Peace Health Complex in Spirit River, AB, at the age of 88 years.

Henry was born on the family farm in Northmark, AB, on November 7, 1932, to Henry Sr. and Sofie (nee Miller) Hessler. He was the fourth child born to Henry Sr. and Sofie: Otto, Emil, Nellie, Henry, Ed, and Rose.

Henry and Phyllis (nee Sather) Hessler raised five children: Barb, Ken, Alan, Calvin, and Laurie. Henry and Ann were married on April 8, 1988, and shared their lives until the time of his passing.

He homesteaded and farmed in Fourth Creek from 1952 until he retired at the age of 84.

Henry will be greatly missed by his wife Ann; children: Barb (John) Winia, Ken (Darlene) Hessler, Alan (Bonnie) Hessler, Calvin (Donna) Hessler, and Laurie (Doug) Jackson; step-daughter Debbie (Forrestt Shoemaker); grandchildren: Darren (Vicky) Winia, Lisa (Ryan) Moe, Sarah (Dustin) Gumpinger, Brandon (Danielle) Hessler, Ryan (Jill) Hessler, Brent Hessler, Melonie (Kyle) Zaichkowski, Nicole (Craig) Heitrich, Jen (Tyson) Dobrowolski, Kenton Jackson, Robert (Bridgit) Shoemaker, and David (Kathy) Shoemaker; great-grandchildren: Carter, Sophia, Nathan, Madeleine, Jonathan, Kael, Reese, Blake, Sloane, Lyndon, Alex, Jocelyn, Colin, Jax, Gage, Luke, Megan, Molly, Sarah and Bailey.

He was predeceased by his brothers Otto and Emil Hessler; sister Nellie Sauder; sisters in-law Lena and Kay Hessler; and brothers in-law Emil Sauder and Lawrence Peddy.

A Graveside Service will be held at the Northmark Cemetery with immediate family only due to COVID-19 restrictions, on Friday, December 4, 2020, at 2:00pm. The service will be livestreamed for family, friends and loved ones to watch on the Oliver’s Funeral Home Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/olivers.funeral.home/).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northmark Cemetery (RR1, Woking, AB, T0H 3V0), the Central Peace Health Complex (Box 339, Spirit River, AB, T0H 3G0), the Canadian Cancer Society AB/NWT Division (#200, 325 Manning Rd. NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5), or to a charity of one’s choice.
