Irene Phyllis Pozarnsky (Balisky) passed away at the age of 86 years, early Friday morning June 24, 2016, at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada.

Irene was born at the Sexsmith Maternity Home, June 18, 1930 to Fred and Mary Balisky (Bovkoon). She was raised on the family farm her father homesteaded in 1911. She attended North Sexsmith School.

Irene married Ben Pozarnsky of rural Benedict, North Dakota, October 21, 1966 at the McLaurin Baptist church in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Following their marriage, they moved to Benedict, North Dakota, where they operated a successful grain and livestock farm and raised their three children: Brent, Grant and Celayne.

She is survived by her children: Brent of North Dakota, Grant (Galina) of Casper, Wyoming and Celayne (Mike) Moore and grandchildren: Joshua and Victoria of Port Orange, Florida; sister Helen Peristy and niece Donna Elvestad and family of Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Irene was predeceased by her husband Ben Pozarnsky; parents Fred and Mary Balisky (Bovkoon); infant brother Gordon and brother Clarence.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 10:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie, Alberta (10005 107 Ave.)
