Irene was born May 25, 1951 in Prince Albert, SK. and moved to Grande Cache in 1972 where she met Stanley Matthews. She married Stanley on July 21, 1973 at St. George’s Church in Prince Albert, SK. She resided in Grande Cache for 44 years where she had her son Aaron.

Irene fought against cancer for the last 12 years and finally let go on Friday, March 18, 2016.

She is survived by husband Stanley (Sonny), son Aaron, grandchildren: Dominic and Elizabeth; brothers Bob (Shirley) and Don (Alice); sisters: Pat, Audrey (Dave), Shirley and Betty; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene was predeceased by her mother Eva and father James, her two brothers John and Doug, as well as sisters Grace and Mary.

Irene will be loved and missed by all who knew her!
