Obituary For James Adam Smith

James Adam Smith passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016 in Edmonton, at the age of 77 years.

April 6, 1939 on the family farm near McGregor, Manitoba. He worked at many jobs in many places, bringing his family to Grande Prairie in 1973, where he was employed by Grande Prairie Packers and then at Northern Alberta Dairy Pool. After recovering from coronary by-pass surgery in 1993, he, along with his wife owned and operated Collectors Corner, then went on to employment with George’s Driver Service and Windsor Ford.

Jim is survived by his wife, Ethel, sons Innes (Elaine) and Sheldon (April); daughters Shelly Norton (Barry) and Sherril Crowshaw (Don); his five grandchildren: Paige Norton, Tameyr Mickiewiez, Thadius Norton, Darrien Crowshaw and Peyton Crowshaw; as well as his step-children Kelvin Uhryn (Nancy), Leona Morrison (Bob), Paul Uhryn (Christine), David Uhryn (Jane); and grandchildren Ben Hunter-Uhryn (Lauretta), Daniel Hunter-Uhryn (Crystal), Alyssa, Nicole, and Kara Uhryn, Samson, Maxwell, Jackson and April Uhryn and great-granddaughters, Mackenzie and Gabrielle Hunter-Uhryn and Emily Byrne. He is also survived by his brothers Gordon and Archie; sisters Esther and Bertha; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Nellie Smith, sisters Ruth, Lillian and Charlotte, and his brothers Wallace, Harvey and Boyce.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 2:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave). There will be an open mic during his Memorial Service, so please bring along a story to share.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
