Obituary For James "Leo" Forrester

James Leo Forrester, resident of Hythe Pioneer Home formerly of Beaverlodge Alberta passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital, at the age of 81 years.

Leo was born on July 18, 1943, in Rossland, BC to Glen and Clara Forrester. The family relocated to Beaverlodge in 1962 where he remained. Leo started LPlumbing and serviced the Beaverlodge area until his retirement. He and Valerie Cunningham were married on July 25, 1969, with their only child Glenn arriving the following year.

Leo had 11 siblings and fond memories of the chaos that ensued. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and crib and was an avid Edmonton Oilers fan. The happiest Glenn ever saw him since the Oilers won their first cup was the day his grandson was born. From that day on he was a doting and proud Grandfather.

He will be missed by his son Glenn (Michelle) and grandson Jake. Sisters; Isabelle Macintyre, Grace Forrester, Julie Foss and Wendy Forrester. Brothers Neal Forrester and Eddie Martin as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years Valerie (nee: Cunningham), sisters; Marjorie Arlidge, Alice Walters, Shirley Forrester and brothers Wayne Forrester and Billy Martin.

The family would like to thank the staff at both the Hythe Pioneer Home and the Beaverlodge Hospital for going above and beyond caring for Dad.

At his request there will be no memorial service.

Donations can be made to the Hythe Pioneer Home or the Beaverlodge Hospital Foundation.

Sympathy wished to his family. Many the many good times remain in your memories. Leo was a unique fellow. I really only knew him by his visits to check out our furnace or hot water tank. A gravelly voice and avid smoker. Did is work and not very much small talk. Glad to have know him, even in this small way.

Leo was a special guy. I so enjoyed checking out the hockey games with him at the home. He was a gentleman and will be missed.
