Obituary For James Young

James A. Young, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016 in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 83 years.

James was born March 28, 1933 in Alsask, SK. He was raised on his parent’s sheep farm around Sibbald, AB, and attended the rural school. After leaving school, he pursued a career with C.I.L. Explosives in James Island, BC, then transferred to Calgary. He was with the company for 38 years.

James was talented at trouble shooting, and could fix almost anything, earning him the name “Mr. Fix-It”.

James enjoyed curling, bowling, baseball, hunting, and dancing “old-time dances”.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Kathleen; children: Thomas (Janet), Allen (Sue), Janice Kozac (Mike) and Jill Basnett (Earl); brother John (Sheila); sister Nancy (Gary) Krause; sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents George and Elizabeth; in-laws Catherine and Mervin Craig; brothers: Peter, George and Thomas; and daughter Lynne.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at 2:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke of Canada (#200, 1212 West Brodway, Vancouver, BC, V6H 3V2) or to a charity of one’s choice.

The death of a loved one can bring much tears and pain but may your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of times spent together and have comfort in God's promise of a new world where death will be no more.(Revelation 21:3,4) My deepest sympathy to you all.
